Critters

Things sure are busy around here. The kids have some new friends and they are all planning a sleepover this weekend. Gracie (my youngest) isn't sure she can wait that long ;-) . It will be the first time in 20 years we have been kids free for whole day! I hope I make it!lol

Fall is here and the leaves are looking so pretty here on Lookout Mtn. I think I may have to take a trip around Little River Canyon Rim this weekend.

It is beginning to look and sound more like a farm around here. We have 3 new animals to add to the crew. 3 little goats, the guy said they are Nigerian dwarf goats but I am thinking 1 may be a pygmy. It doesn't really matter cause they are all small and so cute. They are all supposed to be expecting also. They are a little scared of us right now and run from us. Today was the first day I got 1 of them to eat from my hand. So we will see. For now the 3 girls are in the barn w/ the chickens. We have 6 Chickens now. And at least 3 are laying good we usually get 3 eggs a day. I am not sure the bantams are laying yet. We still have Moonlight the mini-horse she is so fat I have refused to feed her grain! She is loving the green pasture and it shows!lol My son feeds the animals and keeps them watered. I think he gives that horse a treat everyday but those are tiny and healthy treats so I believe it is the grass and her just eating so much.

Well, I guess I had better get busy around here, this place is alot of work but it is so worth it. Take care and here is a pic of my newest critters :-)

What great looking animals. I feel so removed from life on the farm so it's nice to read about it. ~ Steph in the Suburbs

They look more Pygmy than Nigerian since we have raised and bred Nigerians and that's how we started our route into Mini-Nubians.

Isn't it fun to add new animals to your farm? I always enjoy watching them and seeing what THEY teach US!

We've talked about having goats, but never have felt like we had good enough fencing for them. They sure are cute though, especially the pygmies. :O)

Becky, It's so good to hear from you... I think of you often. How do you like it down there near Fort Payne??? I love the Little River Canyon area... Bet it is gorgeous in Fall.

Sounds like you all are gradually adding more and more animals...

Are you still home-schooling? Glad the kids have found lots of new friends..

We are fine ---WELL--except I've been in the hospital twice recently... Had hernia surgery a week ago today. NOT FUN...

Hugs,
Betsy
